Data Protection Act (1998)
The Data Protection Act 1998 governs the use of personal information by businesses and other organisations. If your business requires you to store people’s personal details, such as customer or employee records, then you must comply with the Act.
Security of data is a legal requirement under the Data Protection Act 1998, ensuring the complete removal of all data from your redundant equipment is essential to maintain the security and integrity of your data.
The process of data destruction is fully traceable with data storage equipment given a unique 'sanitiser code' once the process of data removal has been completed. Euro Recycling maintain procedures to ensure no data is ever released.
Euro Recycling use Blancco software, which erases all existing data up to Confidential, Secret and Top Secret levels. Blancco covers all international standards, and is the only product certified by:
- CESG Infosec
British National Technical Authority for Information Assurance according to specifications set in HMM Infosec Standard No: 5 - DIPCOG
The British Defence Infosec Product Cooperation Group - NSTL
National Software Test Laboratories in the UK - US DoD 5220.22-M (meets and exceeds data security standards)
US Department of Defence
Blancco Data Cleaner is also the only commercially insured product.
The Data destruction systems at our disposal do not stop there: with the Verity SV91M Degausser Euro Recycling can remove data from any tape drive using an extremely strong magnetic field to wipe all traces of data rendering the media unrecoverable. Finally Euro Recycling Limited can also provide Drive punching services and hard drive shredding that reduces the items to nothing more than shrapnel and in accordance with the the Data Protection act.
